John Casey ‘70 and Tom Gorczyca ‘73

Benedictine College is pleased to announce the two newest members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.  John Casey (posthumously) Augustinian Academy Class of ’70 and Tom Gorczyca Augustinian Academy Class of ‘73 will be inducted on Saturday of Homecoming, October 16, 2010.

John Casey, ‘74, who recently passed away, was a successful coach and player here.  Tom Gorczyca, ’77, is one of the top soccer players in Benedictine history and still holds the single-season and single game goal scoring.

Coach Angelo Prassa

We were informed by a friend about the death of Coach Prassa recently.  He passed away in 2002.  He finished his career at Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa.  Here is a link to a story about Coach Prassa:

James M. Gallen ‘70

James M. Gallen (1970) of Evans & Dixon, L.L.C. was inducted as a fellow of “The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers” during its fourth annual induction dinner on March 6, 2010 in Phoenix.

The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers honors attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice in the field of workers’ compensation.

Besides practicing law,  Jim teaches continuing education classes in history through the St. Louis Community College at Meramec.

Rachel Baumgartner daughter of Dan Baumgartner possible link to canonization of William Joseph Chaminade

Craig Kaintz ‘70 co-authors a book called “Cruizin North County”

John Britt ‘67 Appointed Director Missouri Department of Public Safety

Governor Elect Jay Nixon has appointed John Britt ‘67 Director of the Missouri Department of Public Safety.  John was the Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service field office in St. Louis and Director of Corporate Security for Anheuser Busch.  Read more on this Post Dispatch link.
